The Ventura High School Foreign Language Department provides students with a rich and comprehensive experience in acquiring a foreign language and culture.  All Ventura High School foreign language classes meet VHS graduation requirements and UC A-G admission requirements.  2008 saw the development of two new upper-division Spanish courses: “Spanish for Careers in the Community" and "Spanish for International Careers".

VHS FL offers courses in four languages: Spanish, French, Italian, and German. All but Italian offer all four years, and Spanish offers five years. Fourth and fifth year Spanish are AP courses; third and fourth year French are honors courses.  Italian, which was resuscitated in 2007, will most probably develop into a four-year program.
